I have always loved Bret Michaels for as long as I can remember. I tuned in every week to watch "Rock of Love" as well as his new show "Life as I know It." I have seen Poison a couple of times in the past but since I was quite a bit younger I really do not remember much. So, when I heard about the VIP experiences being offered for Bret Michael's solo tour (with 38 Special and Lynyrd Skynard) I did not hesitate. And this led to one of the best nights I've ever had.
My parents and I traveled to Cleveland, OH on July 8th, 2010. During our drive down Tony, Bret's tour manager, called to check on our progress and to make sure that we were still coming. Upon our arrival, I was taken backstage and allowed to board the band's tour bus, during which I got the chance to meet all of Bret's band members. I then got the chance to hang out backstage for a while, while Bret's band members got ready for the show and even got to watch Lynyrd Skynard arrive and unpack their equipment. When it was time I returned to my seat, which was in the 6th or 7th row. I watched 38 Special perform until it was time to head backstage again. I got to stand backstage, by the entrance to the stage, and watch Bret's roadies prepare his equipment to be taken on stage at the conclusion of 38 Special. It was pretty awesome standing there with the band, just chatting about life in general. It was then finally time to go on stage and await the start of Bret's show. I was able to stand just off to the side of the stage, right behind Bret's keyboardist. I then enjoyed an awesome show by Bret during which I received hugs and high fives during the times that Bret would exit the stage for a short breaks. Immediately after the show I was escorted backstage and onto Bret's tour bus to finally meet him. I got a few things signed and a couple pictures. Bret was just as genuine as I had heard he was. We talked for a good amount of time about his health, how the tour had been going, and so on. Upon, leaving the bus to go back to my seats to enjoy Lynyrd Skynard, I received a big, wet kiss right on the lips! I will admit, I was in shock for a second and it took me a few to regain my strength to walk. :) It was definitely a night full of amazing memories that I know I will NEVER forget!
